Enabling a child to be creative at an early age can lead to a creative “STEM” thinker.
Dictionary
Dictionary.com defines creativity
Dictionary.com defines creativity as: the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc.; originality, progressiveness, or imagination
Essentially, creativity involves three important factors: problem solving, self-expression, and imagination (the ability to see beyond what already exists) all of which overlap and correlate.
Encourage your students to be creative, to create and innovate something that will add value to peoples lives. Don’t allow them to just make an adjustment to something that has already been created, let them reach out and create something new out of something that may have not been intended for that specific purpose.
Join Chris Woods as he reflects back on his early childhood and a simple set of lego blocks which allowed him and his brother to be STEM thinkers and unleash their creativity.
